How do I connect my TV receiver and DVD player?
So I bought a new receiver (HDMI equipped but not my DVD player otherwise.). The instruction booklet that were completely useless, and I'm getting increasingly frustrated. I have an HD TV and a TiVo box. Can someone please explain how can I set this up and what cables will I need? I will be forever grateful.
I suppose that this receiver has more speakers. Probably the variety of sound surround sound, right? And you want all audio to be in surround sound, so you must run all audio through the receiver. DVD – send video DVD player to your receiver via component video cables. Send audio via optical or coaxial digital surround sound if you want or RCA (white / red) if you want 2 channel audio. TiVo – Send audio and video via HDMI to a TiVo receiver. If the TiVo does not have HDMI, then do what he did with the player DVD. TV – Send the video output of the receiver to your TV via HDMI. Ideally, you'll need two HDMI cables, a set of component video cables and optical or digital coaxial cable. All switching done through the receiver, not the TV.
