Is there a better filter adapter tube than the one supplied with my new Sony DSC H-7?
The supplied adapter tube requires large filter sizes, but I have all kinds of 49mm filters and aaccessories. The former were smaller Sony adapters but I tried a friend and did not fit.
Unfortunately, does not exist. The filter thread sizes of the cameras are set for a reason. if you try to use smaller filters or adapters, it is likely that you will find some kind of distortion of the image-usually vignetting (darkening of the edges of the image), so you probably only have to accompany larger filter. 1 *** EDIT *** Well, in response to his message: I was not aware of his experiences as a professional, no offense, but I did not know their level of experience, so I apologize for that, just trying to address this level of experience as much as possible if not indicated. What the H series camera tube is your friend? The biggest difficulty I see would be his focus ring reduction. The adapter for the H7 is a 74mm filter size, and am having trouble finding any 74mm -> 49mm STEPDOWN Rings Online. If you can get the thread of any 62mm lens or less, you can use a ring STEPDOWN as in the link I provided. Would it be possible to use a tool like a Dremel to modify a similar adapter to your friends so they can accompany the lens of H7? If the adapter walls are thick enough, maybe you could take off enough that it would be desirable. Therefore, I was not deliberately trying to not be useful. It sucks that Sony has stuck a 74mm filter size of the lens adapter, filters are prohibitively expensive, and should not be many out there. I tried to find some adapters from Sony before they could comply with the H7 and allow 49mm filters, but it seems that all adapters that fit the H7 and nothing else, apart from the offer of a 74mm filter mount. You could try a series of stepdowns as 74 -> 72, etc. until 49. Sorry again for the misunderstanding before, and I hope this develops More on my attempt to help.
